Another great post VomVom.
But common sense and facts fall on deaf ears of those that have chosen to fall for the lies of the anti oil and gas press.

Come on guys, even Lisa Jackson said there was no evidence to link hydraulic fracturing to groundwater contamination.
There has to be recognition and distinction between hydraulic fracturing, the process, and the results of failed regulatory oversight, which allows sub-standard, poorly engineered and poorly constructed wells to be put into service.
Shale gas wells are 12,000 to 20,000 feet deep while fresh water aquifers are usually less than 500 feet deep. Last time I check, frac water and its dissolved chemicals do not flow uphill. The states and their regulators collect billions of dollars on royalties and well license fees. It is about time they start doing their job and do not allow sub-standard well to be put into service. The integrity of the wells should be confirmed and tied to the issuance of license to operate.

ConEdison the NYC electric company used to have a saying, "Dig we must" it was designed to make us feel better about all the streets that were in disrepair because of the digging.

The risks of fracking need to be detailed objectively and carefully; enviros are very quick to condemn yet can't provide alternatives with energy density anywhere near oil.

There's so much back and forth over the fracking issue that one wonders where the real truth is and when it will surface? We do know that there is not a bottomless supply of crude oil on this planet, at least I think we know that. If that's true, then fracking for NatGas as a viable alternative will be less about safety/environmental impact and more about pure need and survival as an industrialized people.

It is political BS, but note that it does come from a web site that is politically based.
We may or may not need to frack, but the "arguments" presented have nothing to do with the issue. The author wants you to believe that by fracking in our search for oil, and gas and by drilling more, and by doing some other things, the US will gain energy independence. What those activities producing more oil/gas had led the US to doing is exporting oil and NG.
It isn't an environmental issue. It is about being a true conservative and not a pawn of the oil/gas industry. A true conservative makes good use of his resources instead of squandering them.

An article that has to resort to "chicken little" name calling is not credible OR relevant. Any three year old can do it. Wrap it up & take it out back 'cause it's pure garbage.

I might believe more of this article if I had not read about the author afterwords. In a full page article about him, I found nothing that didn't have to do with politics. That's no good to me. It doesn't matter what party, its the fact that he is nothing more then a politician.

Wouldn't have to worry about it if we switched to algae-based bio-fuels.
