Gas prices may have peaked

Abiline Reporter News -- Gas prices have been falling all across Texas this week as the July Fourth holiday approached, a time when prices typically hit a peak high, said Dan Ronan, an AAA Texas spokesman.

The weekly AAA Texas gasoline price survey released Thursday shows the average price of regular unleaded self serve fell by four cents this week to $2.49 per gallon. In Abilene, prices averaged about $2.43 a gallon for unleaded, with some stations in the city selling it at $2.49 a gallon.

Prices also fell 4 cents nationally to an average of $2.63, the Associated Press reported.

Prices are likely to keep tumbling lower as the summer — known in less rough economic times as a peak road travel season — wanes, according to Ronan.

“Historically, they (gas prices) have peaked on the July Fourth holiday,” he said, n

Then again, they may not have peaked. Let's wait until the Summer runs its course before making rash statements. The oil situation is very hard to correctly anticipate.

they went up here before the holiday, 10c late last week and early this week, so they could drop them back down a little. Still jacked em before the holiday.

Oil producing countries will find some way to drive prices up. Cut oil lines in Nigeria? Whatever it takes, it will probably occur.

Some countries are super dependent on oil revenue (Venezuela for one), they had a taste of $147/barrel oil and they want it back.
